While this course is designed to provide the basic knowledge for individuals with little or no experience who are interested in entering the private detective industry, it will also be helpful for individuals with investigative experience adapt to Georgia laws and the private sector. The course exceeds the minimum training outlined by the Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies for new investigators and will qualify the student for licensing under a detective agency.
Objectives:
- To prepare the student for the exam given by the State Georgia for a Detective Agency license.
- Present the mandatory instruction outlined by the state under Rules and Regulations 509-3-0.6.
- Familiarize the student with standard investigative techniques and procedures used in the private investigative field

Basic Investigative Sciences (Georgia), Basham and Craig, 1st edition (2002)
Course Requirements:
There will be 8 tests and one final exam. Each student will also prepare a sample report and invoice. An average of 70% or higher must be made on the average of all tests, as well as, the final.
Attendance:
Attendance and in class participation is essential for successful completion of the course. The state does required specific hours of classroom instruction for specific areas of training. See the instructor after an absence if additional hours will be needed for make-up.

The Georgia Board of Private Detective and Security Agencies mandates specific criteria in order for an individual to operate their own detective agency. This criteria includes experience, training, exams, etc. This course alone does not meet all of those requirements.
